10th WingTsun Master (Master of Comprehension)

Profile
- Bachelor of Martial Arts
- National Coach for Sweden
- Head Trainer at the Trainer Academy in Heidelberg
- Owner of schools in Aschaffenburg
- School Director since 1984
Motto:
“Live your dream!”
How the journey began
Before learning WingTsun, Thomas Schrön practiced boxing.
However, he was drawn to the fascination of Asian martial arts, animated by the aura of mystery that surrounded them.
His dream was to practice what Bruce Lee did.
Why he continues to practice WingTsun
- Because it continues to fascinate him every day: there is always something new to learn.
- His role model has been and is SiFu Kernspecht, an example of continuous study.
- Because WingTsun has allowed him to meet extraordinary people, many of whom have become friends.
- Because he has been fortunate enough to turn his passion into a profession.
Memorable WT experiences
Among the most significant memories of his career:
- When SiFu Kernspecht taught him the eighth section of the double knife form using pens, at Frankfurt Airport.
- The invitation in 2000 to become a trainer at the Trainer Academy, then still located at Langenzell Castle.
- The seminar with Prof. Chu, who introduced ChiGong, broadening the vision of WingTsun.
Evolution in grades and role
- 1st technical grade: complex exam at Langenzell Castle, taken before the age of 20. Receiving the certificate was a moment of great pride.
- 5th master grade: obtained later in Langenzell, after other colleagues had received it in Hong Kong in 1997.
- Grand Master (9th MOA): an emotional achievement, considered however a new beginning, not a destination.
Awarding of the 10th WingTsun Master
January 10, 2025: by the will of GM Prof. Dr. Keith R. Kernspecht, Thomas Schrön receives the title of 10th WingTsun Master – “Master of Comprehension”, along with martial brothers GM Oliver König and GM Giuseppe Schembri.
Mission of the recognition
The title represents a mandate of responsibility:
- To safeguard and develop the legacy of GM Kernspecht.
- To guide, as an alliance of the three Grand Masters, the three areas of modern WingTsun:
- Classic WingTsun
- WTplus (with Masters Cosimo My, Mark Tiez and Lutz Trabert)
- Magic Hands (with Master Natalie Kernspecht)
The 10th Master is not a grade obtained through examination, but the result of:
- A lifetime of study and practice
- Didactic contributions and international leadership
- The responsibility to grow the entire EWTO community, carrying forward the dream and legacy of the founder.
