Escrima Program

Escrima EWTO is the official program for weapon combat and armed self-defense of the European WingTsun Organization.
Created by Grand Master Bill Newman, it is designed to be accessible to everyone: simple, logical, and highly effective.
Every movement is based on concrete physical principles and real survival strategies, with a clear, progressive, and safety-oriented approach.

Key features of the program

• Use of weapons from the beginning: starting with sticks, then progressing to knives, dual weapons, swords, tonfas, and many others.
• Structured progression by levels: similar to WingTsun, there are student and higher levels, allowing for measurable and certified growth.
• Universal adaptability: every principle can be applied with or without weapons, using common objects as defensive tools — a pen, a newspaper, an umbrella, or even a bag.
• Reflex and timing training: drills and coordination exercises develop sensitivity, timing, distance, and control.
• Real self-defense: addresses concrete situations such as armed assaults, sudden threats, and close-quarters combat, with the goal of acting quickly and controllably.

In Italy

The Escrima EWTO program is also active in Italy under the direction of EWTO Italia S.r.l., which coordinates certified schools and instructors.
